When a consultant beats a bigger agency

A consultant wins when your problem needs judgement more than headcount. At seed and Series A, the hard part is choosing the five pages and three fixes that matter, then getting them live. A large team adds layers between that decision and the work.

The senior person vanished after the pitch

Big agencies sell with a director and staff the account with juniors. Your strategy gets reinterpreted twice before anything ships.

A strategy deck, and nobody to execute it

Many consultants stop at recommendations. Your team doesn't have the hours, so the deck ages in a shared drive.

We need signups, not blog traffic

Seed runway can't fund a year of awareness content. Every page has to earn its place by bringing trials or demos.

What working with a SaaS SEO consultant looks like here

You get one senior lead who decides, explains and ships. Amit runs the strategy calls, sets the priorities and leads the execution, so advice and delivery never drift apart. Here's what that covers.

01

Decisions made on the call, not after it

The person on your calls sets priorities and signs off the work, so nothing waits on an internal handoff.

02

A 90-day plan sized to your runway

Moves ranked by likely effect on signups and how fast your team can ship them. Everything else is parked, in writing.

03

Fixes made, not filed as tickets

Where we have access, technical, on-page and schema changes are made by us. Where we don't, you get the exact change to paste.

04

Pages scoped to a buyer query

Comparison, use-case and product pages briefed and written against one query each, with a signup path on every one.

05

A second opinion on plans already made

Bring a roadmap, a vendor proposal or a migration plan and get a direct read on what to keep and what to cut.

06

Your team able to run it later

Briefs, checklists and page reviews your marketer can reuse, so the channel doesn't depend on us for ever.

Covered on every engine your buyers use

  • ChatGPT
  • Perplexity
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Google AI Overviews
  • Google AI Mode
  • Copilot

ChatGPT search and Copilot draw on Bing's index, so Bing rankings feed AI answers. We work on search and AI engines as one program.

How it works

The same four steps on every engagement, with a clear view of what to expect at 30, 60 and 90 days.

  1. 01

    Understand

Map your product, buyers, competitors and the prompts and searches that decide your category.

Days 1 to 30. A fixed baseline across every engine and the prompts that matter.

  2. 02

    Prioritize

Pick the few moves that will get you recommended fastest and turn them into a focused roadmap.

Days 1 to 30. A focused roadmap agreed, with the first fixes already shipping.

  3. 03

    Execute

Do the technical, content, authority and AI visibility work ourselves.

Days 30 to 60. Content, technical and authority work shipping every week.

  4. 04

    Improve

Track citations, rankings and conversions against the baseline and keep refining.

Days 60 to 90. A first read against the baseline, then the next quarter planned.

Questions buyers ask us

How is a consultant different from an agency?

Mostly in who does the thinking and who you talk to. Here they're the same person. Amit sets the strategy, joins your calls and leads the execution, with SearchAxe doing the hands-on work under his review. You get pages shipped and links earned without an account-management layer between you and the decisions.

How involved does the founder need to be?

Most at the start. We need an hour or two in the first weeks on positioning, competitors and who buys, then a short regular call. After that, approvals are the main ask. Founders who like staying close join every call, while others hand day-to-day contact to a marketer and read the monthly report.

How long does a consulting engagement run?

Long enough to judge results fairly. Fixes and new pages take weeks to ship and months to rank, and AI citations depend on outside mentions building up. We plan in 90-day blocks against the baseline. HeyOz's page-one positions came ten months after launch. A shorter scope can work for a migration or a second opinion.

Do you take one-off SEO consulting calls?

Sometimes, for a defined question such as a site migration, a replatform or a review of another vendor's proposal. That's scoped and quoted after the free consultation like any other work. Most of the value comes from staying on through execution, so we'll say if a single call won't fix what you're describing.

Who else works on our account?

Amit leads and stays on it from kickoff onward. SearchAxe keeps a small roster of clients so that's possible, and the hands-on work on content, technical fixes and outreach is done under his direction and review. You won't be handed to a new contact once the contract is signed.

Is a consultant enough for a seed-stage startup?

Usually it's the right size. At seed you need someone senior to choose the few pages and fixes that matter and get them shipped, not a department. A full-time hire costs a salary before they know your market. HeyOz started with one homepage, and we built its buyer-intent landing pages before any broad content.

What does SaaS SEO consulting cost?

Quoted after a free consultation. The quote depends on how much execution you want from us versus your own team, how many pages and fixes the plan calls for, and whether link building is in scope. You see a written plan and a clear quote before anything starts, and work begins once both are approved.

Can you review what our last agency did?

Yes, and it's a common way in. We look at what shipped, what ranks, which pages get cited in AI answers and what was left half done, then tell you plainly what to keep, fix or drop. You get the verdict in writing, whether or not you hire us for what comes next.
