The quick answer

Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the work of getting a product cited and recommended inside AI answers. Judged on that work for a SaaS or AI startup, SearchAxe and Siege Media tie on total, with Optimist one point behind. Siege has named citation results for SaaS and AI brands and large content teams, on year-long contracts, while Optimist offers month-to-month terms and pipeline-tied reporting from Series A. Directive is the choice if you want GEO inside a wider B2B demand program, though its startup package lists on-page SEO rather than GEO.

How we ranked these agencies

  1. 01

    Named citation results

At least two named SaaS or AI clients with a published outcome in AI answers. One such client, unnamed citation results, or named search-only SaaS results score partial.

  2. 02

    Search stays in the plan

GEO and Google and Bing work run as one program, including in the package a startup would buy.

  3. 03

    Citations tied to pipeline

Says it connects citations to pipeline, signups, demos or revenue. Citation counts, sentiment or share of voice alone score partial.

  4. 04

    Seed to Series B fit

Names early-stage, seed, Series A or Series B teams as a fit. No stated stage, or a later-stage focus, scores partial.

  5. 05

    Ships pages, fixes and placements

Restructures content, implements schema and earns third-party mentions itself rather than handing over an audit.

  6. 06

    Prices on the page

Yes means published prices. Partial means a published pricing rule or a stated quote process. No means neither is published.

SearchAxe is on this list and was scored on the same criteria as every other agency. We used public information only, from each agency's own pages, checked on October 6, 2026. A yes is two points and a partial one. To be listed, an agency needed at least one named SaaS or AI case study. We considered eleven agencies, SearchAxe included; nine qualified and we list the top eight. SearchAxe and Siege Media tie on points, and SearchAxe sits first because it is our agency, not because it outscores Siege. Other ties are ordered by case studies, then stage fit, then pipeline reporting, then name.

How to choose

Questions worth asking on the first call with any agency.

  • Which prompts will you track for us, and who decides the list?
  • Name two SaaS or AI clients whose citations you moved, and show where they started.
  • Does the package you're quoting include Google and Bing work, or only AI answers?
  • What will you change on our site, and what will you earn off it, in the first month?
  • How do you connect a citation to a signup or a demo?

Red flags when hiring

Citation guarantees

No agency decides what an answer engine says. A guarantee means someone is selling certainty they don't have.

GEO with the search work removed

AI answers that search the web pick their sources from what ranks in Google and Bing. A plan that ignores rankings tends to stall when the pages underneath can't be found.

Proof from a single engine

A screenshot from one engine proves little. Ask for the same prompts checked across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot.

How we get started

From first call to work in progress in three steps.

  1. 01

    Book a free consultation

A call about your product, your market and where you stand in AI answers and search today.

  2. 02

Get a plan and a quote

We send a plan for what we would do first, with a clear quote for the work.

  3. 03

    Work starts right away

Once the plan and quote are approved, the work starts immediately.

What clients say

Nan Ha Nan Ha Product Growth Lead, Viggle AI Read the Viggle AI case study

We came to Amit with a good product and almost no search presence. He gave our team a plan we could actually follow. Referring domains are up 183% and our first page rankings have more than tripled.

George Kurdin George Kurdin Co-Founder, Monk Read the Monk case study

Our content was getting published but not landing anywhere. Amit reworked how we format it for AI engines and our citations across all seven engines are up over 400%. The Reddit community he built now brings us leads weekly.

Aditya Nagpal Aditya Nagpal Founder, Wisemonk Read the Wisemonk case study

We launched with a homepage and nothing else. Amit built the search foundation, the landing pages, the blog, the schema. Our domain rating is up 70% and we went from zero AI citations to being quoted by six of the seven AI engines.

Ahad Shams Ahad Shams Founder, HeyOz Read the HeyOz case study

We had multiple pages fighting each other for the same terms. Amit mapped it all out, consolidated what needed consolidating, and rebuilt our service pages. Organic traffic is up 147% and our top three rankings have more than doubled.

Manjunath Thandu Manjunath Thandu CEO, Zivoke Read the Zivoke case study

Agency, in-house or tools

Agency

One team covering strategy, content, technical and authority work. Fastest to start, and you pay for output rather than headcount.

In-house hire

Full control and deep product context, but slow to hire, and one person rarely covers every engine and every discipline.

AI visibility tool

Useful for tracking where you appear. A tool shows the gap, but someone still has to close it.

Frequently asked questions

What does a GEO agency deliver each month?

Typically a tracked set of buyer prompts with who gets cited for each, rewrites that make key pages easy to quote, technical work on crawler access and schema, and outreach for mentions on the lists, review sites and communities answer engines draw on. The better agencies also keep Google and Bing rankings moving, since AI answers that search the web pick sources from search results, and report citations next to signups.

Which GEO agencies publish named results for SaaS or AI companies?

On this list, SearchAxe names Viggle AI, HeyOz and Wisemonk. Siege Media names Hebbia, Mentimeter and Zendesk, and Directive names Case Status and AxisCare. Embarque names one, Cleanvoice. Optimist and Growtika publish AI answer results without naming the client. Omnius and Go Fish Digital name SaaS clients, but those case studies report search growth rather than citations.

Should we hire a GEO specialist or an SEO agency that does GEO?

Hire for the work, not the label. A GEO specialist that drops rankings leaves AI answers without the pages they draw from, and ChatGPT search and Copilot draw on Bing's index. An SEO agency that has added GEO may still treat it as a report. Check the quoted package includes prompt tracking, page rewrites, third-party mentions and Google and Bing work under one plan.

How should GEO results be measured?

Against a baseline taken before any work starts. Fix the list of buyer prompts, record which engines cite you and which cite competitors, then re-run the same prompts on a schedule. Count cited pages and citations, note how engines describe you, and tie AI referrals to signups in your analytics. Every SearchAxe engagement is measured against a fixed baseline set before the work starts.

Why are Percepture, Minuttia and Passionfruit missing?

We considered all three. Percepture publishes clear GEO pricing, but its clients and case studies are in pharma, healthcare, telecom and travel, with no SaaS or AI examples. Passionfruit's published case studies are mostly ecommerce brands, with no named SaaS or AI case study. Minuttia qualified but had the lowest total of the nine that did; it says it isn't a fit without product-market fit and doesn't list technical implementation.

Can a GEO agency focus on one AI engine for us?

It can track one, but optimizing for one rarely makes sense. Engines share many of the same sources, ChatGPT search and Copilot draw on Bing's index, and your buyers don't all use the same assistant. The work that earns citations, clear pages and trusted mentions, tends to lift visibility across engines at once. Track them all so you can see where you're missing.

What does GEO cost with these agencies?

Where prices are public they appear on each card, but five of the eight agencies here, SearchAxe included, publish none. The published ones range from bundled SEO plans with AI search included to content minimums on year-long contracts. With us, a free consultation comes first, then a plan and a quote, and work begins once both are approved.
