Brand Mentions Service for the Sources AI Engines Read

AI engines often build shortlists from best-of lists, review sites and community threads, so the brands those sources mention tend to get recommended. SearchAxe runs a brand mentions service for funded AI startups that earns your place there without fake reviews or ads dressed up as editorial. Wisemonk's citations across AI answer engines rose 414%.

Why AI engines recommend whoever the lists mention

When a buyer asks for the best tool in a category, AI engines rarely rely on a vendor's own page alone. They lean on sources that compare several products: best-of roundups, review sites like G2, and community threads where users swap recommendations. If your competitors are named there and you aren't, the answer repeats their names.

Every roundup lists the same five competitors

The best-of articles that AI answers cite were often written before you launched, or by writers who had never heard of you. Nobody updates them unless someone asks.

No G2 reviews, so AI won't recommend us

Review sites give engines a quick read on who uses a product and why. An empty profile beside a competitor's full one makes you look like the riskier pick.

AI repeats whatever Reddit says about our category

Threads where users trade tool picks show up as sources again and again. If those threads never mention you, or only mention an old complaint, that's what buyers hear.

How our brand mentions service earns each placement

We start from the sources AI answers already cite for your category prompts, not a generic outreach list. Then we earn a place on each one the way that source accepts: a pitch to the editor, a review from a real customer, a useful reply in a thread. Nothing is bought and disguised.

01

A source map built from your category prompts

We run your buyers' prompts across engines, log every cited domain and page, and rank them by how often they shape the answer.

02

Get on the lists AI engines cite

We pitch the editors behind the roundups that matter with why you fit their readers, plus a trial account and accurate facts they can quote.

03

A review program real customers use

Timed review requests to active customers on G2 and similar sites, within each site's rules. No incentives that break their terms and no reviews written for anyone.

04

An open presence in community threads

Your team joins relevant threads as the company, with the affiliation stated, answering the question asked. We find the threads and draft replies for your approval.

05

Outdated mentions corrected

Where a list or thread describes you wrong, we contact the author with current facts, because an inaccurate mention can do more harm than no mention.

06

Mentions tracked in answers, not a link count

We report which sources now name you and whether the AI answers citing those sources name you too, read against the baseline.

Questions buyers ask us

Do you pay for placements on best-of lists?

We don't pay for placements and pass them off as editorial. Some lists only include paying vendors, and we'll tell you which ones. If you decide one is worth it, it should be labelled as sponsored, and we track it separately. Many editors will add a product on merit when someone gives them a good reason and accurate facts.

How do you get G2 reviews without breaking the rules?

We ask real, active customers at the moments they're most likely to say yes, such as after onboarding or a renewal, and send them straight to your profile. We follow each review site's rules on incentives and never write or edit a review. It's slower than buying them, but the reviews stay up and the profile stays clean.

Will you post about us on Reddit?

Not under fake accounts, ever. Brand-run sock puppets get spotted, banned and screenshotted, and the backlash ends up in the very threads AI engines cite. We find threads where your product answers the question, and someone from your team replies openly as the company. Where a subreddit bans vendor posts, we stay out.

How long does it take to get on the lists?

Editor outreach depends on each publication's update schedule, which we don't control; some lists change often and some rarely. Review programs build gradually, as customers reach the right moments. Community presence takes longest, because trust in a thread is earned one reply at a time. We report progress monthly and read the full picture at day 90.

Is a mention worth anything without a link?

For AI answers, often yes. Engines read the text of a page, so a roundup that names and describes you can shape an answer with no link at all. Links still matter for Google and Bing rankings, so we ask for one where it's natural, but we don't pass on a good mention because it lacks one.

Which AI engines read these sources?

All of them draw on the public web, and review sites, roundups and community threads appear as sources across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot. Which sources carry the most weight differs by category and by engine, so we map yours before choosing a single target.

Who does the outreach?

SearchAxe does, led by Amit Malvi, who built and led a 20-person link building team at Invideo AI. We write the pitches, handle editor replies and keep the source map current. Your team steps in only for review requests to customers and for community replies, since those have to come from you.

What does a brand mentions service cost?

Quoted after a free consultation. Scope depends on how many cited sources you're missing from, whether you have customers ready to review, and how active your category's communities are. We send a plan and a quote together. Work starts once you approve both, measured against a baseline of where you're mentioned today.

What have earned mentions done for clients?

For Wisemonk, citations across AI answer engines rose 414%, and pages cited went from 70 to 299. For Viggle AI, pages cited in AI answers went from 4 to 279. Mentions were one part of each engagement, alongside page and technical work, so we don't credit those figures to mentions alone.
