Answer engine optimization

The AEO Agency That Keeps Your Positioning Intact

Answer engine optimization (AEO) is shaping your pages so AI engines lift a correct answer from them and cite you as the source. We're an AEO agency for funded B2B SaaS and AI startups, and we rewrite the pages answers quote so your positioning survives the trip. HeyOz went from no AI citations to 91.

How AEO differs from GEO in practice

Generative engine optimization (GEO) decides whether an engine names you in a shortlist, and most of that is won off your site. AEO decides what the engine says once it reads your page, and that is won on the page itself. You can be named and still be described wrong. AEO fixes the description.

The AI answer quotes us, then gets us wrong

It calls you a generic AI writing tool when you sell, say, contract review for legal teams. The source is usually a vague hero line or an old page that still ranks.

A competitor's comparison page answers for us

A buyer asks how you compare and the answer quotes the other side's version. If you have no comparison page of your own, theirs is the only one an engine can use.

Our best facts are buried below the fold

Integrations, pricing model and who the product is for sit in tabs, images or long paragraphs. Engines quote the sentence that answers the question, and yours isn't written as one.

What an AEO agency changes on your pages

AEO happens at passage level. We go through the pages answer engines read for your category and rewrite them so each question gets one clear, quotable answer that still sounds like you.

01

Answer-first sections under question headings

Each section opens with a two-sentence answer to the question in its heading, then the detail. That opening is the part an engine lifts.

02

Positioning lines that survive being quoted

One-sentence descriptions of your product, category and buyer that still read correctly when pulled out of context and pasted into an answer.

03

Comparison pages written in your words

Fair, specific comparisons against the products you're weighed against, so the answer to how you compare comes from you and not a rival.

04

Definitions, tables and FAQs engines can lift

Short definitions, comparison tables and question and answer pairs give engines clean units to quote, with schema that labels each one.

05

Facts moved out of images and tabs

Integrations, limits, pricing model and use cases moved into plain HTML text that Google, Bing and AI crawlers can read on first fetch.

06

A monthly check of how each engine describes you

We ask your buyers' questions on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot and log every description.

Covered on every engine your buyers use

  • ChatGPT
  • Perplexity
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Google AI Overviews
  • Google AI Mode
  • Copilot

ChatGPT search and Copilot draw on Bing's index, so Bing rankings feed AI answers. We work on search and AI engines as one program.

Who this is for, and who it is not for

A good fit

Funded B2B SaaS and AI startups, seed to Series B, whose product is easy to misdescribe

  • B2B software in a technical or newly named category
  • Products answers name but describe wrong
  • Teams with strong docs and thin marketing pages
  • Companies losing comparison questions to rivals

Not a fit yet

  • Teams that only want schema markup added
  • Sites with no pages worth quoting yet
  • Brands unwilling to publish fair comparisons

AEO from us versus the usual ways teams try it

SearchAxe Content writing agency Schema markup only Product marketing in-house
Writes for passage-level quoting Every section answer-first Writes for readers and rankings Doesn't touch copy Writes for sales decks
Checks what engines say about you Every engine, every month Not in scope No Only when someone notices
Comparison pages Fair, specific, in your words Often generic listicles Not applicable Often avoided
Structured data Schema that matches the visible text Rarely Yes, but on its own Rarely
Keeps positioning consistent One description used everywhere Varies by writer No effect Yes, but slow to ship
Measured against a baseline Citations and descriptions logged first Traffic only Rich result counts Not measured

Questions buyers ask us

Do we need AEO and GEO, or just one?

Usually both, and your baseline sets the order. If engines don't mention you at all, the gap is off-site and GEO comes first. If they mention you but describe you wrong, or quote a competitor's comparison instead of yours, the gap is on your pages and AEO comes first. We run both from one plan, so you don't buy the same research twice.

Which pages do you rewrite first?

The ones answers already read. We check which of your URLs engines cite or summarize for your category questions, then start with pages that are read but misquoted. Next come the missing pages, usually a comparison page and a plain what-it-is page. New blog posts come last, because they rarely fix a description problem.

Will rewriting for answer engines hurt our Google rankings?

Not when it's done properly. Answer-first sections, clear headings and specific facts are what Google rewards too. We don't strip pages down or stuff them with questions. Every rewrite is checked against your Google and Bing rankings, and if a page dips after a change, it shows in the next monthly report with a fix attached.

Is schema markup enough on its own?

No. Schema labels what's on the page; it doesn't fix weak copy. If your product description is vague, marking it up just labels a vague sentence. We add schema that matches the visible text, such as Organization, Product and FAQPage, once the copy is right. Added alone, it rarely changes what an answer says about you.

How long until rewritten pages get quoted?

Engines that search the web at answer time can pick up a rewritten passage soon after the page is recrawled. Answers built from training data change slowly, often only after a model update, and that's outside anyone's control. We log every engine's description in the baseline and recheck monthly, so you see which engines moved and which still need off-site work.

Which AEO clients can you name?

HeyOz launched with a single homepage and no AI citations. It now has 91 and is cited by 6 of 7 major AI answer engines. Wisemonk's citations across AI answer engines grew 414%, and its cited pages went from 70 to 299. Both sets of figures are read against a fixed baseline set before the work started.

Do you write the copy or edit ours?

Both, page by page. Where your copy is close, we restructure it and tighten the answer lines so your voice stays. Where a page is missing, such as a comparison or a plain what-it-is page, we write it from a short interview with you. Nothing goes live without your sign-off, because positioning is yours to approve.

What does an AEO engagement cost?

It depends on how many pages answers read for your category and how much needs rewriting rather than restructuring. Pricing is quoted after a free consultation: we look at your site and your answers, send a plan and a quote, and work starts once both are approved. There's no fixed package to squeeze into.
