SEO audit

A SaaS SEO Audit Before You Hire Anyone

You have a site and a blog, and almost no organic signups to show for them. A SaaS SEO audit from SearchAxe is a scoped piece of work, quoted after a free consultation, that finds out why and ranks what to fix first. HeyOz launched with a single homepage, and the plan we built took it from zero AI citations to 91.

Why a site with a blog can still bring no signups

Usually the content answers questions buyers ask long before they shop, while the pages that catch buyers ready to choose are missing, buried or unreadable to crawlers. Sometimes the cause is technical. Often it is both. An audit tells you which, before you spend a quarter guessing.

We publish every week and nobody signs up

The blog brings readers who were never going to buy. Meanwhile comparison and use-case searches go to competitors, because you have no page for them.

We can't tell if it's technical or content

Engineering says the site is fine, the writer says the content is fine, and organic is flat. Without evidence, every proposed fix is an opinion.

Every agency pitch says something different

One says links, one says content volume, one says a redesign. You want to know what is wrong before you decide who fixes it.

What the SaaS SEO audit covers

The audit looks at your site the way a buyer and a crawler do, then ties every finding to signups. You get a ranked list of fixes and a first 90-day plan, usable whether or not you hire us afterwards.

01

Which pages earn signups, and which never will

We join Search Console and analytics data by page to show where organic signups come from and which content only collects visits.

02

Technical blockers ranked by revenue impact

Indexation, rendering, canonicals, internal links and crawler access, checked first on the pages closest to a signup.

03

Content gaps at the buying stage

We map the comparison, alternatives, use-case and integration searches in your category and show which have no page on your site.

04

Where competitors win, AI answers included

Your category prompts tested across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot, next to Google and Bing rankings.

05

A baseline you keep

Rankings, AI citations, referring domains and organic signups recorded on one date, so any later work, ours or someone else's, can be measured.

06

A first 90 days in priority order

Every fix ranked by impact and effort, with suggested owners, so your team can start the week the audit lands.

Covered on every engine your buyers use

  • ChatGPT
  • Perplexity
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Google AI Overviews
  • Google AI Mode
  • Copilot

ChatGPT search and Copilot draw on Bing's index, so Bing rankings feed AI answers. We work on search and AI engines as one program.

How it works

  2. 02

    Prioritize

Days 1 to 30. A focused roadmap agreed, with the first fixes already shipping.

  3. 03

    Execute

Do the technical, content, authority and AI visibility work ourselves.

Days 30 to 60. Content, technical and authority work shipping every week.

  4. 04

    Improve

Track citations, rankings and conversions against the baseline and keep refining.

Days 60 to 90. A first read against the baseline, then the next quarter planned.

Questions buyers ask us

Do you charge for the audit?

Yes. The audit is a scoped piece of work, quoted after a free consultation. The consultation costs nothing and tells us how large your site is, what data we can access and what you need answered. The quote follows from that, and the audit starts once you approve it.

What do we receive at the end?

A written report with every finding tied to the pages and signups it affects, a ranked list of fixes with effort estimates, the recorded baseline and a first 90-day plan. We walk you through it on a call, answer your team's questions and leave you with something your engineers and writers can work from directly.

How long does the audit take?

It depends on the size of the site, the number of competitors and prompts we test and how quickly we get access. You get the timeline in the quote, before you commit. The slowest part is usually waiting for access to Search Console, analytics and the CMS, so having those ready shortens it noticeably.

Do we have to hire you after the audit?

No. The audit is built to be useful on its own. Some teams implement it in-house, some hand it to a partner they already use, and some ask us to run it. If you choose us, the baseline and plan carry straight into the engagement, so nothing has to be redone or paid for twice.

What access do you need?

Read access to Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and your analytics, plus a CMS login or a staging link where possible. Server logs help on larger sites. We don't need write access to anything for the audit, and we can work within your security requirements if you have them.

Does the audit cover AI answers as well as Google and Bing?

Yes. We test the prompts buyers use in your category across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot and record whether you appear, who appears instead and which sources those answers cite. Those findings sit next to the search findings, because the same pages and the same gaps usually explain both.

Is an audit worth it right after a redesign or migration?

Often that's the best time. Redesigns and migrations are where redirects break, pages drop out of the index and templates lose their headings or schema. Catching that in the first weeks costs far less than finding it after a quarter of falling signups. The audit checks redirects, indexation and rendering on your revenue pages first, then the rest.

Should we fix technical issues before writing more content?

Usually the blockers on revenue pages come first, because new content on a site crawlers struggle with underperforms. But not every warning matters. The audit separates the handful of technical problems that cost you signups from the long list that can wait, so engineering time goes where it actually changes something.

Can our own team implement the fixes?

Yes. Each finding comes with the affected URLs, the specific change and how to check it worked, written for whoever will do it. Engineers get tickets they can drop into a sprint, and writers get briefs for the missing pages. If something needs judgment along the way, we can join a follow-up call.
