ChatGPT visibility

A ChatGPT SEO Agency Measured on Signups, Not Screenshots

When a buyer asks ChatGPT for the best tool in your category, it answers from what it learned in training or from a live search that draws on Bing's index. SearchAxe is a ChatGPT SEO agency for funded AI startups that works on both, then tracks the signups ChatGPT sends. For Viggle AI, pages cited in AI answers went from 4 to 279.

Why ChatGPT names your competitor and not you

ChatGPT builds a shortlist from two places. Without search, it relies on what it absorbed in training, so brands the web describes often and consistently come to mind first. With search on, it rewrites the prompt into queries and reads what comes back, so if you're not in those results or on the pages that rank for them, you're not on the shortlist.

We ask ChatGPT about our category and get skipped

Three competitors come back, each with a line on why it fits. Yours is missing, even though your product does more of what the buyer asked for.

ChatGPT describes the product we had last year

Training data has a cutoff, so an old name, old pricing or a dropped feature can linger in answers. Live search can correct it, but only if your current pages rank for the question.

We get mentions but can't see any pipeline

Someone screenshots a good answer and nobody can say whether it brought a single signup. Many links clicked in ChatGPT arrive tagged utm_source=chatgpt.com, and most teams never build a report on it.

What you get from our ChatGPT SEO agency

The work splits along ChatGPT's two modes. Search answers move first, because they follow Bing rankings and the pages that answer the prompt. Training-data answers move slower, because they follow how the wider web describes you, and they only change when OpenAI ships a newer model.

01

A prompt set run the way buyers run it

We write the shortlist prompts your buyers type, run each one several times with search on and off, and log who gets named, in what order and from which sources.

02

Bing rankings for the queries ChatGPT searches

We find the queries that return your competitors when ChatGPT searches, then build or fix the pages that should rank for them on Bing and Google.

03

Crawler rules that keep you in search answers

OpenAI documents OAI-SearchBot for search and GPTBot for training. We check robots.txt, CDN and firewall rules so the search crawler gets in, and you decide on GPTBot separately.

04

Pages ChatGPT can lift a recommendation from

Comparison, alternatives and use-case pages that say who the product is for, how pricing works and where it beats the field, in sentences that survive being quoted.

05

A wider web that describes you one way

Training-data answers follow what reviews, roundups, forums and publications say. We work on the sources that already shape your category's answers, so the next model learns the right version of you.

06

Signups from ChatGPT in your own analytics

We report on chatgpt.com referrals and tagged links, tie them to signups and demos, and read every month against the baseline fixed before work starts.

Covered on every engine your buyers use

  • ChatGPT
  • Perplexity
  • Claude
  • Gemini
  • Google AI Overviews
  • Google AI Mode
  • Copilot

ChatGPT search and Copilot draw on Bing's index, so Bing rankings feed AI answers. We work on search and AI engines as one program.

Questions buyers ask us

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend us?

No, and anyone who promises that is guessing. Answers vary between runs and between users, and OpenAI doesn't publish how ChatGPT picks products. What we can do is raise how often you appear across a fixed set of buyer prompts, measured against a baseline recorded before we start. For Viggle AI, pages cited in AI answers went from 4 to 279.

How long before ChatGPT starts mentioning us?

Search answers move first. ChatGPT fetches results live, so a page that starts ranking on Bing can appear once it's indexed and chosen. Training-data answers are slower, because they only change when OpenAI trains and ships a newer model, on its schedule rather than ours. We read progress at day 90 against the baseline and tell you which of the two moved.

How is a ChatGPT SEO agency different from a normal SEO agency?

Google rankings still matter, but ChatGPT search draws on Bing's index, so Bing carries more weight than most SEO plans give it. The rest is new work: sampling prompts, tracing the sources behind answers, setting rules for OpenAI's crawlers and getting described the same way off-site. We run all of it inside the SEO plan, not as a side project.

If we win in ChatGPT, do the other engines follow?

Mostly, though not evenly. The pages, third-party sources and crawler fixes that get you into ChatGPT answers are what the other engines read as well, so the same work carries across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot. Engines often cite different sources for the same prompt, so reports break results out by engine and show where it lands first and where it lags.

Should we block GPTBot?

That's a business decision, and it's separate from search. OpenAI documents GPTBot as its training crawler and OAI-SearchBot as the crawler behind search results. Blocking GPTBot doesn't remove you from ChatGPT search, but blocking OAI-SearchBot can. We check both rules, plus any firewall or CDN setting that blocks them without anyone noticing.

How do you track signups from ChatGPT?

Many clicks from ChatGPT arrive tagged utm_source=chatgpt.com, and others show up as chatgpt.com referrals. We set up a view for both in your analytics, connect it to signups and demos, and add what your sales team hears on calls. Some visits still land as direct traffic with no source, and the report says so rather than guessing.

Why does ChatGPT give different answers each time?

The model varies its wording, search results change, and saved memories and custom instructions shape answers for each user. That's why a single screenshot proves very little. We run each prompt in the set several times in clean sessions, with search on and off, and report how often you appear rather than whether you appeared once.

Which pages does ChatGPT cite for tool questions?

In the shortlist prompts we run, cited sources are usually best-of roundups, comparison pages, review sites, forum threads and vendors' own product pages. The mix differs by category, so we trace the sources for your prompts before deciding what to build. Sometimes the quickest gain is a roundup you're missing from, not another page on your site.

What does ChatGPT SEO cost?

It's quoted after a free consultation, once we know your category and how much needs building. We send a plan and a quote together, and work starts when you approve both. There's no fixed package, because a startup ChatGPT already knows well needs different work from one it has never heard of.
