AI visibility audit

An AI Visibility Audit of Every Engine Your Buyers Ask

Funded AI startups use our AI visibility audit to find out how every AI engine answers their category, who gets cited instead and why. It's a scoped piece of work quoted after a free consultation, and it ends in a findings grid and a ranked fix list, not a pitch deck. HeyOz started with zero AI citations and now has 91.

How do I check if AI engines recommend us?

Ask a few engines yourself; it's a good start. But answers shift with wording, account history and the day, so a handful of screenshots won't show your real position. An audit runs a fixed prompt set across every engine and records what comes back, so the picture holds up when you show it to someone else.

Our screenshots disagree with each other

A cofounder sees you named; a salesperson asking the same thing doesn't. Without a fixed prompt set, nobody can say which result is typical.

We don't know why a rival keeps winning

You can see the competitor in the answer but not the page or source that put them there. That source is what the fix has to target.

We don't know which engines matter for us

Your buyers might lean on one engine and ignore another. Without the same prompts run on all seven, you can't tell where to put the effort.

What the AI visibility audit checks, and what you receive

The audit makes four checks and produces two outputs. Every finding comes with the evidence behind it, in plain language, and it's yours to keep whether or not you hire us afterwards.

01

Your category prompts on every engine

Your buying prompts run on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Copilot, with every answer recorded.

02

Competitor citations and their sources

For each prompt, which rivals are named and which pages, roundups or threads the answer cites when it names them.

03

Every misdescription of your product

Answers that get your category, buyer, features or pricing model wrong, each traced to its likely source.

04

Source and crawler gaps

Sources the answers rely on where you're missing, plus robots.txt, rendering and indexing problems that keep crawlers off your pages.

05

A findings grid by prompt and engine

One sheet showing where you're cited, mentioned, absent or misdescribed, prompt by prompt and engine by engine.

06

A ranked fix list, not a slide deck

Each gap paired with its fix, ordered by likely effect and effort, ready for your team or ours to start on.

Questions buyers ask us

Why isn't the AI visibility audit free?

Because a free one tends to be built to sell the next contract, and this one has to stand on its own. The consultation is free; the audit is a scoped piece of work. On the call we agree how many prompts, competitors and engines it should cover, then send a quote you approve before anything runs.

Which part of checking takes the time?

Running the prompts is the quick part. Tracing why each rival gets cited, and checking crawler access, rendering and indexing behind your own pages, is what takes time. The overall timing depends on how many prompts and competitors are in scope, and the quote states it before you approve. Fixing what the audit finds is a separate and longer piece of work.

What does a misdescription finding look like?

A row in the grid showing the prompt, the engine, the exact wording the answer used, what's wrong with it, such as a dropped feature or the wrong category, and the page or listing it most likely came from. The source is the useful part, because that's what gets corrected. You can't edit an answer, only what it reads.

Can we run the check ourselves?

Partly. You can ask engines your category questions and note who's named. What's harder is holding the prompt set fixed, running it across all seven engines, tracing the sources behind each answer and spotting crawler or rendering blocks. If someone on your team has the time and technical SEO skills, a self-check is a fair start.

Which prompts does the audit use?

Ones built from how your buyers ask, not generic templates. We draft them from your positioning, your competitors and the questions your sales team hears, grouped into best-tool, alternatives, use-case and pricing intent. You review the list before anything runs, because the audit is only as useful as the prompts behind it.

Will the results change if we run the audit again?

Some will, which is why the prompt set is fixed. Answers vary with wording, user and day, so the audit runs each prompt more than once and records how often you appear, not one screenshot. Rerun the same set later and the comparison is fair. If you go on to work with us, that set becomes the baseline we report against.

What did HeyOz's starting point look like?

HeyOz launched with a single homepage and no AI citations. Read against that baseline, it now has 91 AI citations, is cited by 6 of 7 major AI answer engines and reached page-one positions ten months after launch. The starting measurement is what makes those figures checkable, which is the whole reason to measure before you fix.

Will you pitch us at the end?

No. The audit ends with findings and a ranked fix list. If you ask what working together would look like, we'll send a separate plan and quote. If you don't ask, we won't chase you with a deck or a string of follow-up calls. Findings first, and a proposal only when you want one.
